This is how Patient Friends works.
- People such as you and I who are
treated by the NHS, Are given the opportunity to give feedback about our
experiences. It could be anything from the amount of time we were able to
see a consultant for, to the side-effects of medication, anything at all,
good experiences or bad.
- If there are areas that people feel
could be improved, then Patient Friends is then able to positively and
respectfully campaign for improvements. As well as being able to share
what things people have liked and would like to see more of.
- There are no set issues that Patient
Friends might campaign about, it depends entirely on what the members, i.e.
the general public feel is important. Campaigning might take the form of local
media and maybe events and leaflets to raise the profile of improving
patient care.
That is the campaigning side of Patient
Friends.
- The other side is a support group
offering friendship and support to anyone with health problems, Major or
minor, long-term disabilities and also those who are their friends and
family. Or anyone with an interest in improving patient care.
- This will be
in a
light-hearted and cheerful atmosphere. There is no expectation or
requirement to reveal any personal medical history. It's more about keeping
one's morale up and having a good time. I hope there will be social events
as well.
What is the next step?
- Get in contact basically, the group is
very new and I would be very interested to see your thought and ideas. The
idea would be to give me your contact details and
I shall get back to you about meetings and
planning
If you would like to get involved with Patientfriends please drop me a
line, and
I shall get back to you about meetings
and planning.
I would welcome your feedback and suggestions as well.
Many thanks James
